1.3 Released


Been a while! Whew... where to start?

Well, let's begin with the obvious: the game UI has been completely overhauled!
@Blastermore put in the work to rework the old UI into a more celestial-y and spacey theme, which fits with the game a lot better. This change extends to the leaderboard UI, which is no longer using basic Unity textures.

In terms of quality-of-life, we made some very welcome changes:
- Buttons now highlight when you hover over them
- Added a pause button to the game UI (web players rejoice!)
- The WebGL build can now be fully played in windowed mode, thanks to a handy tutorial I watched during another game's development a few months ago)
- A credits screen has been added to the main menu, with the full credits for everyone who worked in the game and for every external sound effect used.

Balance-wise, there have also been some changes:
- The sun now grows in size by 1.5x every round, instead of the previous 1.2x. This was done to improve game pacing and increase the sun's impact on the game.
- Quantum Anomalies now has a 0.1 second cooldown, to reduce situations where having multiple Quantum Anomalies triggering would lead to them becoming stuck in place until something hit them or they fell into the sun

Behind the scenes, some things have changed how the game works:
- Ice Giant, Quantum Anomaly and Dust Nebula logic have all been tweaked to be more consistent. With these fixes on top of the sun growth changes, orbits and game progression will feel quite different and significantly more dynamic in relation to version 1.2.

To contextualise why this update materialised all of a sudden , Cosmic Loop was recently nominated for Game Dev's Lisbon Spotlight Awards '25 and it inspired us to work a bit more on the game, so we could submit it for Novos Talentos FNAC 2026. So yeah, let's see how that goes!
